Multi-axis tests

One of CTA’s main activities consists of the execution of complex tests involving application of multi-axis loads with more than 20 hydraulic actuators, simultaneously controlled with the most advanced control systems and with monitoring of their behaviour in real time using test benches developed at our facilities to facilitate our customers’ certification campaigns.

CTA has contributed to the development and certification of the main aircraft developed in Europe, either by providing our technology from an early stage in technology demonstrators or through structural certification tests of final components: Airbus A340, A320, A380, A400M and A350XWB, Embraer ERJ170, KC390 and E2, Bombardier C Series (now A220), Dassault 7X, Daher TBM, Mitsubishi MRJ, etc.

Infrastructure

  • 1,500 m2 testing area housed in two buildings reinforced with high-resistance slabs
  • 12 MTS control systems
  • 2,000+ strain gauge acquisition channels
  • Load cells, torque transducers, LVDTs, pressure transducers and thermocouples
  • Hydraulic, pneumatic and electromechanical actuators from 50 N to 5 MN
  • Temperature and humidity generators
  • Non-contact 3D measurement systems, high-speed cameras, thermographic systems
  • In-house instrumentation, damage infliction, repair and inspection capability
